Well, we could start by not exposing them to the mindless, gratuitous violence of endless cartoons, tv shows, movies, video games and music videos which dehumanize people and show them as disposable.

They desensitive people into believing that somehow, other people don't feel pain, like they do, emotionally or physically and that's it's all right and just fine to hurt others because others don't really matter.

We spend SO much time "protecting" the little darlings from any bad thing that could ever happen that they become the centre of their own universe and don't consider other people, EVER. They have no consideration and therefore only worry about being "cool" to their peers. And guess what? Belonging makes a kid feel cool. They can belong to gangs, who influence them that guns and killing are cool. That the only human life worth anything is theirs.

Stop desensitizing these kids and parents need to make sure they know where their kids are, what they are doing and who they are spending time with and putting limitations on them.

If you were truly worried about you children’s safety you would start working on ways to get the police to enforce traffic laws, and make manufactures of automobiles stop promoting cars with advertisements glorifying reckless driving. For every one person killed by use of a firearm a hundred are slaughtered on our highways.
Following 9-11, more Americans died on our roads by October 1, than died in the NY towers.
