East Indians come with practically nothing from India. So of course they are always going to look for the best deal and tend to be a bit on the thrifty side. East Indians are still one of the wealthiest minorities in the United States. So what's the problem?

I think indians have a good stereotype:
Kind, family oriented, respectful, smart, hard working, have tasty good vegetarian food in their restaurants.

I am judging the few I have known.

I think East Indians have a good reputation. The ones I have seen are always nice, very polite and soft-spoken. It has made me very curious about their culture and what about their culture or beliefs that makes them like this. Thrifty is also a good attribute and not seen as negative, usually. So, from what I've seen, they don't have a bad stereotype at all. But obviously you've seen something different. Sorry about that.

I live close to San Jose, CA, and there are a lot of Indians that live in that area. They seem to be living good. My brother works in a place where most of the customers are Indian. Most of them are cool. Of course, some are mean but that goes for every race.

I don't know. All the East Indians I know are very hardworking and love to save money. It nothing wrong with that. Its better to save than spend.
