This question requires a multi-part answer because a computer's performance capability is never related to one area alone. First, the amount of RAM is not really insufficient, however, I suspect you might be multi-tasking with other background programs when initiating the video. Simply try playing video with all other programs closed. Second, make sure you have the latest drivers for you hardware components, i.e., Direct-X is up to date (Google it) and also try doing a windows update if not already attempted. Most people shy away from Window's updates, but they are designed for specific hardware/software improvements so give that a shot too. Third, keep in mind that your processor, RAM bandwidth/speed, and especially Hard Disk speed all play critical roles in system wide performance. Granted, laptops have come a long long way in three years, the culprit is most likely a combination of the software you are using with the video (real player etc), your Internet connection bandwidth, and most notably -- your hard drive. Your Hard Drive is critical because it is not only the slowest device in ANY computer, but the slower it's rotational speed(RPM), the slower the video is going to "cache" to the drive before heading on over to the RAM and Processor. A 4200rpm laptop hard drive will concede in performance as compared to most 5200rpm and above drives. My first piece of advice to you -- get at least 512MB of RAM that meets the specs of your machine -- 1-2 Gigs will also make a world of difference, all though that doesn't mean significant "speed" gain it will give you allot more headroom. Good Luck :)!

well first check how much ram your computer can support. if you want it good for playing video games, get atleast 1GB. the minimum requirements are usually 256mb or 512 but you always want more than the minimum.
