If a bunch of fanatical Americans started launching missles in to Tijuana, Mexico and Toronto, Canada....sure Canada and Mexico would be angry.....but so would the USA?
The Feds would be going after them with everything they had and not telling Canada and Mexico that it's "their problem".
Is it my imagination, or is Lebanon conveniently sitting on the fence...wanting Israel to be attacked, but not wanting to officially "go to war".
Am I missing something?

It seems like it should be Israel AND Lebanon against Hezbollah OR Israel against Lebanon and Hezbollah.

It's funny how simple your resolutions all are. How many wars have been fought on American soil since the American Civil War? OK, 9/11 was the most cruel attack in history, & we all were sickened (a major understatement) by it. I wish things were as simple as you guys see them.
What you're missing is that if the Lebanese army retaliates, then it would be open war, which we do not want. Besides, it's infinitely weak due to a 20 year war. Hizbollah is backed by Syria & Iran (Syria occupied Lebanon for 25 years with US blessing before the latter finally changed their mind). Remember, Lebanon is smaller than Rhode Island & is infinitely tiny compared to those forces. If we took to arms, we'd be wiped out before you can say peace. What everyone seems to ignore, is that right before it all started, there was a national dialogue where all the parties involved were trying to get to a peaceful understanding & hopefully get Hizbollah to relinquish their arms. I'm not sure you can understand this, given that you have powerful countries.
I am Lebanese, Christian, from the North of Beirut, against Hizbollah, but I still believe all this is just madness. Israel is not doing anyone a favor, we do want Hizbollah out, but not like this.
Sean, you said that if we do not support Hizbollah we should leave. Dont you think that's too simplistic? It's our land, our home, our roots. All we want is the basic right every human being should have, the right to live in peace. But I guess those who already have this right take it for granted & dont see the other side of the mirror...

There soemof the Lebanes ecivilians supporting Hezbollah. But i think it would be better if it was Israel and Lebanese against hezbollah, but that's what it is is't it????? I think lebanon 9the people) are on the side of Hezbollah. It's das they don't see that hezbollah is just using their country as a ground for war than caring for them. If they really did care about the Lebanese they would make an effort to protect them and stop this war. They are just usin Lebanon helplessness and place just for their benefit and to try and destroy Israel.
Too bad not a lot of ppl can see it.
PS: can u answer my questions plz. When u have time?

You make a valid point. I'm afraid what is going on in Lebanon is the culmination of years of enabling.
Even we are partly responsible for this enabling. When we went there our soldiers were not even allowed bullets for their guns and the result was 241 unarmed dead soldiers. We did not punish Hezbollah for this but actually rewarded them for this behavior by leaving.
We need to be careful of what message we send as these terrorist remember later on that they can get what they want via unscrupulous tactics. I believe there is a link between the bombing of the barracks in Beruit in 1983 and 9/11.
I can't believe Regan let that happen. Regan knew better but he heeded to Weinburger. He is not the only president that has made mistakes. Clinton demanded that Israel let go certain "political prisoners" one of which was the highjacker that crashed a plane into one of the Twin Towers.
There is a lot of blame to go around. The trick is what to do now. Yes, Israel has a right to defend itself. It needs to be more careful about Civilian causalities, but Hezbollah dressing as civilians and hiding among them does not help either.
Getting back to Lebanon yes, they should kick Hezbollah out. They should have done it a long time ago but now it is going to be extra hard as they have rooted, including politically, into Lebanese society. They probably could do this with the help of the Israelis but the price would be high. Also the Lebanese are starting to resent Israel for destroying their country. Unfortunately they are not seeing the primary cause, which are Iran and Syria playing world politics via the proxy army Hezbollah.

You aren't missing a thing. If the Lebanese really had no support for Hezbollah, they would leave. A Hezbollah rocket launcher is an Israeli target. How long would you live near a military target?
This is how I come to the conclusion that Hezbollah is evil, as they have decided that putting civilians at risk is justified by their beliefs. I also believe that the Arab Lebanese have some support for Hezbollah, as most choose to benefit from Hezbollah's aid and not leave the military area.

That's why Israel is bombing there upset that Lebanon will not and can not control Hezbolla from not attacking and Lebannon allowed it to go down they were sleeping on the job it's not that complicated, say Mexico allowed murderers to keep killing and crossin the border the US would push Mexico to do something if they didn't then the US would have to do it there self?

Right, I had to send someone a message explaining this earlier. If Hezbollah kidnapped an Israeli in Lebanon, Lebanon should have initiated the search and release.
