I'm 30 and rememer Chocky. Wasn't the little boy called Matthew or something? There was a follow up called Chocky's Children as well.
Mind you, I can't remember what on earth it was about, other than a swirling black hole thing which used to appear in the kid's bedroom at night and whisper strange things to him.

I remember The little vampire.. I loved that, if I remember rightly I think I had the book too but I dont rememeber choky sorry...Im 33 now lol

The only "Chocky" I can remember was a book by John Wyndham (also wrote 'Day Of The Triffids'), which I know was serialised as the afternoon story on Radio 4 during the time period you are talking about.
