Howdy, Pighed. I used to be a pizza delivery driver many, many years ago. Generally, most drivers make slightly above minumum wage as their base salary and the tips make up the difference allowing employers to advertise the jobs "pay" say $10/hour. Drivers also (at least where I work they used to) get paid a stipend for each delivery they make that is supposed to help cover gas/auto care- if drivers can make multiple deliveries to nearby locations during the same trip or depending on the make of auto, they can squeeze out a bit more profit. As to what the average tip is/was, it usually seemed to be in line with what a wait person would make- around 20% (if I had to guess an average that's where I would put it and will assume that is roughly what the employer would guess when figure to advertise how much the job "pays."). Depending on driver, customer and situation, tips could range anywhere from nothing to the outrageously generous like basically giving a $10 tip on a $10 order- even us drivers thought those tippers were crazy but we surely appreciated them; tips were always quite good around many holidays. Do most drivers "expect" to be tipped? Yes I'm sure they do but I never did and, in fact, "expecting" a tip was just one way to irritate the customer (along with any other way to provide bad customer service) and those type drivers often seemed to be the least tipped (wonder why?) Hope this helps.

Usually I don't use any particular percentage when it comes to pizza or sandwich deliveries...
Most of the time, if I'm ordering a couple of pizzas, and it comes to something like $14.50, I'll round up to $17 or so.
At the same time, though...if I'm ordering just a couple sandwiches from Jimmy John's (for those of you who know what I'm talking about, and it comes to $9, I'll still usually tip about the same amount, rounding up to $11 or $12.
I suppose it also does depend on how fast they are and how accurate they are to their estimate over the phone. Once I was told 25 minutes for some pizzas. The delivery didn't arrive for nearly 1 1/2 hours. I was told that my order was going to be $27, I offered $8 or I wouldn't take the order nor buy from them anymore...the deal was taken.

I worked as a pizza delivery guy for a long time. You get paid minimum. They pay mileage if you drive your own car.
If it is under $10, $1 to 2. If it is under $20, $2 - 3. after that whatever, doesnt have to be ridiculous

I usually round up by a few dollars. Like if my bill is $16.42 I will give $20.00 and so on. That is stupid that they get paid less than servers and they just deliver the pizza and don't usually make them. (I used to be a server so I am a little biast)

It's up to you. I usually figure 15% and then round up to the next dollar or two. Usually never less than 2 dollars.

Small town here -- 2.00 to 3.00 unless I'm feeling unusually generous or gas goes over $3 per gal.
