Why not Les Sealy? He was a great keeper. And Steve Hunt, another grand player...City were up in the top flight from 1966 until their recent drop. To put that in perspective, when Man Utd were relegated in the 73-74 season, the press made a huge issue of their 32 year run without relegation as a momentus event. The Sky Blues equalled that run with some wonderful players down through the years, and how can one forget the contribution of Gary McAllister, good enough to be drafted by Liverpool in their huge cup campaigns of the 2000-01 season, and for all those who are wondering the longest stay in the top flight...that would be Arsenal's current run as the only team ever promoted to the top flight and yet to relegated, lasting since the first quarter of the last century...and Liverpool on a run of 54 years since their last promotion to the top flight...

Well not Phil b@stard Babb who is the crappest player I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. Me and my mates were actually talking about how good Roy Weagle was - not at Coventry, but I thought i'd mention him anyway. Peter Ndlove was good for 10 mins in the 1990's, but I'm sure you'd all pick Keith Houtchen just for his goal against Spurs - and a fine goal it was too.

Soldjablue's point of LFC being in the top flight for 54 years was a nice touch, but it pains me to admit that Everton have been up longer than us. Last time LFC went down, EFC went up (1954) and thus have brought shame/disgrace on the top flight of English football for 8 years longer than us.

I think Stuart Pearce or Cyril Regis was their best players.

I would rank Regis as No1.
