Is it me or are they playing with the heads of their guitars missing? I noticed this real early on in the video when the girls get out of the car at the gas station and the band is there playing. I think Billy has a clip on his regular guitar and I think Dusty also has one on his bass. Is this really the case that they practically dismantled their guitars?
And another question: is it at all possible to play this way? From my experience with guitars I know that using the tuning knobs on the head of the guitar is the only way to really get it accurate in tuning.

the tuning knobs are on the back of the neck-the strings go over and around the end of it
