I live in the city, but lived in the country when I was a little kid. I never quite fit in either--I just couldn't do the country thing. I went to a school with 23 students in grades K-10. It was a little two-room school house. The town had about 100 people there. My dad owned a 1000-acre ranch that I was supposed to grow up and take over, but that wasn't going to happen. When I was in high school and college, we had two vacation houses in the country in Utah and Idaho and I loved to go stay--but just for the weekends. More than that was too much. I live in Raleigh, NC right now and I would have to say my favorite foods here are Carolina BBQ, hushpuppies, and 'nana puddin'. I also am a fan of apple dumplings. I grew up in Utah and I don't know as there is a regional food there. I ate just about anything. I really love Greek, Italian, Mexican, and good ol' steak and potatoes. Incidentally, that book about country mouse and city mouse was a favorite growing up.

I'm from da country too! The only thing is, is that I live in SC and where I used to live (in SC also) to me was the city b/c you would see cars traveling up and down the road a lot, but now, I live in the country (I really was living in the country all along because all upper-SC really is mostly country) Actually though, the country part that I live in, I have neighbors that I can walk across the field and visit. That's a good thing! It's kind of like the suburbs/country to me b/c everyone that lives up here has a big house. So I enjoy where I live! ;~) My favorite southern food of all time is FRIED CHICKEN! Can't get enough of the stuff! I eat it so much that my parents tell me that Ima turn into one if I keep eating like I do...;~D
