Legally yes you CAN go to jail for downloading songs off limewire. Most likely you will not get taken to jail, and if you do it probably won't be for downloading songs. It will most likely be for making songs on your computer available for download to others. It's considered copyright infringement, and it carries a maximum $10,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison. Any reproduction, even if you don't get any money from it, without the singers consent is illegal. It's the same with movies.

Yes! That's very illegal. And it's not just don't get caught...it's DON'T do it. You realize everytime you download a song illegaly or burn a copy of a friend's cd, you're taking money away from the artist. How would you feel if say you were working at a restaurant really really hard to you could get could tips, but while you weren't looking, someone took all of you're tips, so you ended up with nothing for you're work. That's what you're doing each time you take music illegally. They work hard to make albums and music (which isn't cheap, money for cds and music also goes to the cost of making albums, making videos, etc...). So just respect them, and don't do it. Take Care!

it's illegal and all but as long as u don't get caught it's all good.

Couple of months ago, I was watching some segment on the news show and it was about how hundreds of people got mailed bills and court papers for using downloading (music) programs. They were getting fined a shitz load of money. So try not to have many song downloaded on ur computer.

Probably not. You can get sued and have to pay the record companies lots of money, but you most likely won't go to jail.

They can't make you pay them the money if you're in jail.

I'm not sure if they have set a precedence on jail time yet, but you sure can get fined for it - even if someone else uses your computer to do it. check out the site below for details.

Who knows, but I have a LOT of friends using it, so you are probably just one in 10 million that are using it.
