I have 2 kids (9 and 1) and I usually pay $3.00/hr per child. If im gone 4 hours I'll pay $24.00. I usually give extra depending on what day they are sitting (weekends a little more) and what time of day (late evenings a little more). My babysitter is 16 and didnt know what to charge me either. We worked out a fee that works for both of us. If its full time time care your asking asking about, it depends on age. Licensed day care providers charge more. The women who watches my children while I work is not licensed and charges me $5.00/hr for my 1 year old and $3/hour for my 9 year old. It also depends on where you live. I live in Cali in a place where I'm lucking to find daycare for that cheap. My sister lives in a small town where she pays $60.00/wk for her 1 year old... I hope this helps a little.

We have a 1 year old and use one of the women from our day care. We pay $11 per hour. I know of people paying much less, say $6-7 per hour, for older children who are under the care of a neighbor's child.

depending on the person, their kids, and how long it is. when i babysit i usually get around $7 or $8 per hour for one kid. but it really depends on the people. i used to have a different job where i got paid $9 for 2 kids. so it just really depends on how well behaved the kids are, and what the parents are willing to pay. whenever the parents ask me, i just say whatever they are comfortable with, which usually is better because then if they want to pay me less then i ask for, its not akward.
good luck with your babysitting!
