Are you not fed up with Americans over using the word "awesome"
Watch Oprah and Ricki and everybody says "awesome" and just look at the answers americans give in this site isnt it just "awesome".

Look it up and the meanings are,

1. CAUSING FEELINGS OF GREAT ADMIRATION, RESPECT OR FEAR.
2. US INFORMAL FOR EXTREMELY GOOD.

Its such a bad word to use and is ambigous. Why cant they describe what they feel instead of limiting everything to being just "awesome". It really annoys me to hear or read its wrecking my head.

Tell me what you think

Do not worry so much for what the americans say.....if you don't like how they speak, why you watch their TV programs ?. Probably the Americans are fed up to hear the Britts talking in a particular way. Have you think about that?

Why do stupid people ask stupid questions about "Americans" like they are 1 single entity and also base their veiw of "Americans" on what Ricki lake and Oprah say? Those are two old ugly fat rich windbags that fat housewives watch from their couches all day. They hardly represent "Americans."

Sounds like you need to stop watching Oprah and Ricki and move overseas (if you currenlty live in America).

You'll probably need to stop emailing americans, watching movies, american TV, and all other interactions.

That will take care of your problem.

....o....or you could just get over it and realize that you're pet pieve is not shared by most Americans.

I'm with you on that!

It's just so WIDELY used it's almost become meaningless.

A new jumper or the discovery of life on another planet would presumably both be described as "awesome".

There are a multitude of words to meaningfully convey how you feel about something - it's such a shame not to use them.
