"Beliefs" are processes of the mind. The mind uses beliefs to get through life. For example, I believe that if I step off of a1000 cliff, I will die or very seriously hurt myself. I don't actually have to test this to "believe" this. There is enough evidence gleaned from my experience with gravity for my mind to incorporate this "truth" into my belief system. As for understanding the universe, with our without a Creator, I have no way to "test" this. The easy thing to do is just say "God did it" and let it go at that. However, we have found out much about our universe and there are many books on the study of cosmology. Having studied some of the science that has been developed, I would say this: Physicists can understand and explain the subatomic and high energy processes of when our universe blossomed into existence all the way back to when the universe was a fraction of a trillionth of a second old. That is quite an accomplishment! Even more amazing is that once the initial conditions were set, it can be shown through the known processes of quantum physics, nuclear physics, chemistry, and molecular biology that our universe evolved to this point in time without any need for interference or "guidance" from some "divine hand." It begs the question "Who or what set the initial conditions?" If God did, then's He's been out of a job for about 13.7 billion years. Again, we can say God did it and not bother to seek any further. I for one am glad there are seekers in this world.

I believe in the Big Bang theory, mostly. I also think that the human brain will never be able to fully understand how the universe was created and how it all works. I just don't see how we could ever really understand the word infinite. Our whole lives are centered around things having a beginning, middle, and end. We're born, we live, we die. The universe isn't here just for our pleasure, just so we can survive, we are just here for the moment, the universe has always been here, and it will always be here. We are in a point in the universe were everything is slower, our speed of light is bogged by all the gravity surrounding our solar system, our galaxy and our whole region of space. There are worlds out there that are literally moving too fast for us to see. It's a strange and complected universe and I really don't think we will ever reach the "star trek" faze, I think we will spend our entire existence living on earth, and that's where we'll end it, but that's definitely not where the universe will end.

Well, my perspective is this: Whether or not there is a God, and which ever one of the theories to explain the existence of the Universe is true, it doesn't really make any difference.
We are still here, doing exactly what we're doing. I don't really thing the provenance of the Universe is something that should or will affect what people do and think on a day to day basis. It's certainly fascinating, and knowledge of it would assist us in our understanding of the current mechanisms of the Universe allowing us to better exploit or utilise them, but that's it really. It's something I think about, but not something that particularly concerns me.

I would have to say there is a God. Can you honestly believe that all of this happened by chance? In my religion, we believe that life existed before we all came to earth and still exist way after we "psychically" die. Life on earth is an experience we have to learn and grow.

The universe is a stage for a large production directed by God.
You are one of the actors. He created you to do a specific thing in your lifetime to help others prepare for eternal life where ever. Only God knows how it all comes together in the final production. Each of us only have to ask God what he wants us to do and He will help us practice, practice, practice in our daily living. He even forgives us when we screw up over and over again He knows what we are capable of because He created us. And His Son had to die trying to convince us of the fact that we are loved and cared for by this loving magnificent Creator and God and ruler of the universe. What there is to experience beyond life on earth is only hinted at in the scriptures; but it is supposed to be really worth the effort to prepare for in the here and now. May God bless you in that preparation for eternal life in the presence of God;.

The universe was not created.
When you say "god", I'm assuming your talking about the Christian god?
You see, the problem is, there are thousands of different gods to chose from. So, which one should we apply to your question?

I have no beliefs regarding the creation of the universe. It just is. Nor do I care how or why it is...such things have no bearing on my life. Personally, I think it's the epitomy of human vanity to think we are capable of understanding such things, either through religion or science.

I think that the answer to this lies in another question... Are you religious or not?
