yes garlic is good for lowering blood pressure...i would search the web though for mgs and such. cutting back on salt, and red meats, and such like that will help also.

My answer is yes...and no. Garlic helps keep the blood healthy, which can contribute to good blood pressure. It is known to reduce blood's inclination to clot, raises HDL and lowers total cholesterol and is a vasodilator. It may take 2 or 3 months before you see results.

You did not say how old you are or your gender but the diastolic number you gave is pretty bad - 102 - and the systolic is not extreme at 155, especially if you are an older male. So, I would ask you to consider this: are your kidneys healthy? Are you experiencing pain or tenderness down low in your back, on either side of the spine? Is your urine cloudy? Are you passing water more frequently than normal? If the kidneys are not functioning well, they may overproduce something called A.C.E. that constricts the blood vessels and results in high b.p. readings. Heal the kidneys and the b.p. will go down on its own.

All that to say there are various reasons for high b.p. and so various ways to treat it. If you are sodium sensitive, lowering salt helps. If you are using a product with licorice in it, stop. If you are low on potassium, supplement it. If you drink coffee or strong tea or eat spicy food, stop or cut way back.

Roasted dandelion root tea tastes good, is a diuretic and good source of potassium. Drink it when you want something hot. Hibiscus tea lowers b.p. over time and is delicious sweetened and iced.

Here's an herbal formula that I know will lower moderately high blood pressure:
3 parts ginkgo leaf, 1 part each gotu kola, peppermint, astragalus root and eluthero root.

Put in a pint jar and cover with enough vodka so that top 1/2 inch of herbs float. Put a piece of plastic wrap on top and apply the lid. Mark the jar with a date 3 weeks hence. Shake the mixture and set in a dark place (or put in a brown paper bag). Shake the jar every day and check to make sure the herbs still float - if needed, add more vodka. At the end of the 3 weeks, strain out the herbs and discard. Put the liquid in a bottle with an eye dropper. Dose is 20 drops 3x daily for 150 lb. adult. Up to 30 drops if you are much heavier. This formula gives you energy, improves your memory and balances your blood pressure.

Natural food stores have oodles of ready made products that will help you. I especially like one called HB Pressure by Herbs, Etc. in New Mexico. It has a bit of mistletoe in it and the liquid extract works in less than 30 minutes.

I have a family history of hi chol and I take garlic everyday. I've never been diagnosed with it so Yeah it works. I cut a piece of the bulb at night and put it on the tip of the spoon. Put the spoon into the back of your mouth and without touching your tongue drop it into your throat. That way you won't smell the garlic. Coincidentally, garlic is a blood cleaner and I use it when I feel a cold sore coming on. I put it right by where the outbreak is, (not on it, Ouch) and more often than not the cold sore never flourishes. Your BP is high so stick with it for more than a month and good luck.

There are several Shaklee natural supplements that you might want to consider, Garlic Complex being one of them.

Garlic Complex: dilates small blood vessels; prevents clotting; dissolves fatty deposits
CoQHeart: regulates circulatory system
GLA Complex: reduces work demand on heart; increases HDL; improves liver metabolism of fats; increase flow rate in small blood vessels
Alfalfa Complex: strengthens the kidneys which make a hormone that regulates blood pressure; natural diuretic
Calcium/Magnesium: a deficiency in calcium has been linked to high blood pressure
