I would say she's simply using the international language of exaggeration and sarcasm and at the same time allowing a comical rapport to exist in her classroom. Kudos to teach! But why George Michael when there's Matthew McConnaughey?

I think that English teacher does not know that a proposal is not the same as getting married. You can't file for divorce if you haven't gotten married. I'm not sure I understand your question though.

She is hiding the fact that she was a he, because if "he" likes George Micheal, then he must be gay.
George Michael is gay, no two ways about it, and your English Teacher I wonder about...
