Why are the English always complaining about not having an English 'identity'. Doesn't the word 'chav' sum up

ie isn't chav becoming the new cultural identity?

1.The best selling newspapers are chav.

2.The most popular TV programmes are chav (eg Eastenders, Corrie)

3.The educational system is being dumbed down so that even chavs can get good grades.

4. Many town centres are no go areas in the evening due to chavs.

Truly England has become the land of the worthless chav.

I watched that program actually, and i feel the need to rant.

Those mindless thugs aren't English. They drag my countries name and history through the streets, they use it as an excuse to knock skulls with other cavemen..frankly, i think the police should be alot harsher towards them.

Besides, i think we English have our own culture, and it doesnt have to be some stupid pseudo-pop label like Chav.

If i had to take a guess it was from your neighbors trash can from the front page of some "Chav" weekly paperback.
I never heard of the word "Chav" and you seemed to have made it up. I am curious as to how long you were in England for...that is if you were even there...!

The English have a proud heritage and are incredibly tenacious about preserving their culture..you obviously have not had any formal education because you would notice that thanks to the English and their enduring endeavors from the past, their culture has influenced the world over...and lets not forget the language we use today!?

So what about the hooliganism!?..take a look at the violence of the Spanish league or the stabbings at the American Football games!?!

Please go back to the community college you attended and get a refund!

This isn't the first time, it's a fad. Before there were mods and rockers, then hippies. Now it's Chavs and Grungers/Goths it's youthful expression, though sadly Chavs choose to do so by making achievements out of thigns most would think shameful such as surviving on welfare living in he worst accomadation and getting pregnant carelessly.

On the bright side it might not last another generation. Kids hate anything their parents are into, so all the children of chavs are bound to rebel and become smart dressed intellectuals! :-)

Just because chav is the new british identity doesn't mean we should be proud of it and accept it. I will never dumb myself down and pretend I'm 'ghetto' just to be accepted. If our country isn't just to become useless in the world then people have to take pride in being educated and enlightened again - and stop being downwardly mobile. There is nothing wrong with working class pride - but there is nothing to be proud of in disrespecting society.

It's a result of their extraordinary arrogance that their society has gone down the toilet.

They are so convinced of their superiority that they have allowed a 'dumbing down' to occur at all levels of education without any intervention.

Not only are their national examinations (A-levels, GCSEs) clearly at a lower standard than they were 20 years ago, to anyone impartial who has compared papers, they've actually convinced themselves that they are getting smarter.
