I know how you feel... I was also scared/confused about using tampons the first time. I was solely a pad girl for the first 3 years of my period. But trust me, once you learn how to use tampons, they are the best!! much better than sweaty bunchy sticky smelly pads. Talk to a friend that uses them, or your mom or sister, or some other woman you trust.

Honestly, I wouldn't use a tampon if you have to ask this question. I was in the same boat as you once, and I remember that they weren't comfortable (rather painful) then. You'll know when you're ready to use them. But theres no rush, before you know if you'll wish you never had to. Stick to pads for awhile sweetie. Better yet, talk to your mom.

It might just be really difficult to get it in the right place. I had so much trouble using them for the first time. It took me about a year to get enough courage to try again, but it finally worked and it's sooooo much better than a pad. Keep trying and good luck!

There are instructions an even a picture, I think. Get ones with an applicator to start with (I prefer plastic). It's really easy.

I didn't "get it" either until after I was married, and wasn't a virgin anymore. Was easier to find where it was supposed to go. I just used pads for years.

um...instructions are a must! and if it's your first time - it's all about the angle of insertion. straight up and down is the least painful, and sure way to get it inserted properly.
uh - good luck?

So...use pads. I mean if you don't even know how to USE the tampon, then chances are you won't feel comfortable in it.
