I never said Bush made gas prices high, I meant they would never go down while he is in office because of his former jobs with oil

Yes, it's true that the Bush family has a background in the oil industry. However, I can't say that his being in office is directly related to the high gas prices. There are other factors to be considered, most of which are political and involve the major oil producers. I've heard it rumored that there is a plentiful supply of petroleum in this country, which does not account for the gas shortage claims. There's a lot of things going on under cover, to which the president may or may not have direct responsibility. I do think that as long as people are willing to pay the price, it is not going to go down any time soon. I hate to say it, but the people in this country are basically wimps -- they complain and gripe a lot, but they don't take their complaints where they would matter. We need an extreme makeover-- not only for inflated gas prices, but for the phenomenal cost of prescription drugs and health insurance as well.

Theory 1:Bush does not care about gas prices. He is an oil man like you said, and high gas prices do not affect him and the rich. High gas prices also take minds off of more important events happening around the world.
Theory 2: Petroleum and gas is running out (the supply) but the demand is just getting higher because high population countries like China and India are beginning to consume a lot of gas.

The reason why gas prices are so high is because there is less and less oil and there are more countries that need gas. China and India are both expanding their economy and more and more people there are getting cars and other things that need oil. Because of this they are getting oil as well which means that it is spread more thinly. It won't matter who is in office, gas will always be expensive from here on out.

Don't worry, President Hillary will take care of that and lower prices and she will also get this country back on track!

The moron who left the message above obviously has NO idea about economics. When there is A LOT OF SUPPLY, prices go DOWN. There is just as much oil production before, there are no shortages, and the demand is the same, prices should stay the same, NOT INCREASE brutally.

Bush got out of the oil business when he got elected.
The reason gas prices is so high is because the Democrats will not let us drill for oil. Nor will they allow us to build refineries. Also, China & India are using up much of the oil as they become modern.
Did you complain when Clinton raised federal taxes on gas? Did you argue when Gore said he wanted gas to go to $3.50 a gallon when he was VP. I bet not.

gas is a high due to a very simple reason which is supply and demand . Oil companies are business that are there to make profit , bush has nothing whatsoever to do with the gas prices

Not sure if Bush is affecting it much or not, but he and the government sure aren't helping! We need someone who will actually CARE to do something about it. Just read an article in my newspaper today with the below piece...made me sick.

http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060802/BUSINESS/308020003/1003
"Valero, owner of the Delaware City Refinery, reported a record $1.9 billion net income for its second quarter today, reflecting sharply higher gasoline and oil prices as well as the company's purchase of refineries in Delaware, New Jersey and other areas.

"The bottom line is that this has been a terrific first half of the year for us, and the outlook for the rest of the year is even better," Bill Klesse, Valero's chief executive officer, said at a briefing for investors Tuesday."

How is Bush responsible for current gas prices? That blame goes to greedy oil companies and distributors.
