100/60 is actually pretty ok. reasons for low blood pressure can be divided into 3 large groups:

1) cardiac pump failure: arrythmias, heart attacks(acute myocardial infarction), acute valvular lesions of the heart, all of which lead to intrinsic blood flow problems creating either abnormal regurgitant/pressure loads on the heart. thus the heart has to pump harder and if oxygen and nutrient requirements are increased out of proportion to their supply, the heart goes into a decompensated state and thus heart failure results. Included in this group is tension pneumothorax.

2) hypovolemia: Hemorrhage due to trauma, urinary loss in diabetes insipidus, gastrointestinal fluid loss, cutaneous loss from burns, and other pathologies which result in 3rd space fluid loss like ascites, hemothorax etc. Large fractures especially that of the long bones like the femur can also result in blood loss of as much as 4 units, which is roughly 2 litres of blood, a third from the normal blood volume.

3) vasodilation: drugs such as tricyclic antidepressants, antipsychotics, diuretics, vasodilators; infections leading to sepsis or anaphylaxis from insect bites or allergic reactions; acute adrenal insufficiency.
