No. Old stereotype. Have you seen a European woman? It takes time to look that hot!

That's gross!!
I live in Spain, people here have a tendency to extreme OVER cleanliness... In summer most people will shower at least once a day, if not twice, and even more if it is really hot!

I have also lived In France, and the people I know there all shower every day, (but I know probably not everyone does).

My son lived in England for several years, and his friends there do the same...

We also have family in Italy and Belgium...all shower-takers

I don't know too much about other countries .

If you go back a couple of generations...you will find that even in the States people didn't bathe every day...My grandparents lived on a farm, and the "saturday night bath" was a tradition...The rest of the week you just brushed your teeth and washed your feet & "unmentionables" every day, sometimes in a wash basin that you filled with a pitcher of warm water...not everyone had running water back then!
And with the climatic changes that are happening now, we may all have to go back to that...Water is going to become a scarce commodity if these droughts keep up!

(Some of the other answers you've had are really to crack up over!! Some are too rude, and others are too funny...The bidet one is a riot! The bidet was invented in France late in the 19th. century before there was running water everywhere, and was very popular for washing your "intimates" during most of the 20th. century...it is now becoming obsolete, especially since most homes now have 1 if not 2 full bathrooms, and the ones built in the last 20 years or so no longer come automatically with a bidet included...it takes up too much space. Houses and apartments are smaller)

They shower more often then that in the Western European Countries (usually about once every two days). In Eastern Europe, depending on a family's income level, they may be forced to bathe or shower only once a week. The Europeans think we're weird for showering every day (or sometimes twice a day if we work out).

NO! I take it you don't travel much... I'm English and we're generally a very clean bunch. As far as I know everyone I know showers/bathes at least once a day. Having said that, I live in France and it gets quite smelly here in the summer. I don't know if it's lack of washing or lack of using deodorants... it's very hot here right now...

Yes..everyone in Europe showers once a week. Are you kidding???? Think about it. Their habits vary from person to person just as ours here in the USA do. So much for contributing to tolerance of each other, etc. I understand the answer you got asking whether all Americans are retarded.

No, that is not true.

The fact that you had to ask that speaks volumes about the American educational system.

However, that myth was probably started back during WW2 when American soldiers were coming home from France. France was very poor and it's people were battle weary. So I doubt the could afford to shower regularly back then.

Not sure about regularity but they actually take baths more than showers. Saves water and is more relaxing.
