Without the hood..... no, doesn't matter either way.
Without the engine shroud..... yes.... that directs and concentrates the air flow around the fins to cool the engine.....

no in fact it may run cooler. the cooling of the engine takes place with the engine housing itself. there is a fan in the flywheel that creates air flow around the engine. hence the name "air cooled" instead of "water cooled"

no the hood is just there to protect it from rain branches rocks and from someone touching it and getting burned
