I find that sometimes I am in a silly frivilous mood and just give quips or smart a.s.s answers, other times usually when im not in the best of mood myself,I will spend more time considering the question and trying to give a constructive truthful and if possible useful answer.
How about you ,what effects the type of answers you give !

Personally for me, it all depends on the question(s) and how it is asked. If the question is asked in sincerety and that person wants a thought provoking truthful answer, I'll give a thought provoking and truthful response. If the question appears attacking in any way, I may or may not answer, depending on the subject at hand. Humans do and act according to the way they feel and sometimes this can be a sticky situation. I personally try not to be condeming and judgemental. I try to help a person any which way I can. I've been like that ever since I was a little girl, many, many years ago.

The question itself will often change my mood! If someone is being flippant about a subject I think is important then perhaps I will be a little forceful in my response.
Reading the answers to my questions generally makes me laugh because folks either really get my point or give me such angry responses without really reading what I said! In which case I like to feel superior and ask even more provocative questions! I especially laugh when I get told I'm going straight to hell!!!!

I'm pretty much just like you. Like now...my mood is.....eh....bored. So I'm just kind of going with what comes out. If I was in a chipper, hyper, or super happy mood I might give stupid answers that don't mean anything. But if I'm feeling down, I'll try to look for the serious questions, or try to give a serious answer. But if I'm mad or something, I may tell people who ask stupid questions to get a life! So yeah, pretty much depends!

I answer all questions with the respect they deserve! If it is a serious question i will give a serious answer, if it is a frivilous question i will give a frivilous answer. However mood does have an effect as to the type of question i will answer.
Hopefully this evening i have answered all questions with the respect they deserved.....

I was going to be smart a s s but read your comments. I think the headline question gives the first response but comments read below the question indicates the depth of the question and if it could be googled. So now I have answered this and camed down I think I will call it a night..........well just one more question needing a smart a response.

If I am pissed off I end up slating Americans or Religion or religious Americans! I like to think of myself as a person who is considerate and I enjoy taking a balanced view on things. But when I'm angry I see all the flaws in these to things especially and it makes me really angry! I think its because they are both sugar coated lies. I hate the thought of someone mollycoddling me and I think that America and most religions tend to do this to people. But I am at the moment not pissed off and can appreciate all of the wonderful things that Religion and America has done.

Lots of reasons. Pretty much the same as you.
Alcohol consumption may have a part to play.
Watch out for Friday nights when there's nothing on the tv!
