Soups, yes even the Healthy Choice varieties, are generally very high in sodium, which will cause you to retain more water. This wil in turn cause you to weigh a little more. Soups are not bad for you other than that. You get a good serving of vegetables, but a salas would be the best choice with a low fat dressing.

Soup is fine for lunch, just be careful because many are very high in sodium. Try Healthy Choice or Progresso soups, and again, check on the sodium. Or, you could always make a pot of your own, freeze it in individual containers and then take it to work/school.

Also think about frozen meals to supplement the soup as that will get boring. Lean Cuisines by Stouffer are pretty decent and they have a large variety.

If opting for salads, watch out for the sodium AND easy on the dressing.

Depends on what kind of soup. In general soups are a good diet food because they fill you up and are low in calories (with some exceptions). On the other hand, a lot of canned soups are really high in sodium. I would stick with the soups that have a lighter, runnier broth with some veggies and protein (beans, chicken). Minestroni would be a good example. And whole grain crackers are best.

With soups you have to be extremely careful. They can be loaded with fat and you wouldnt know it. Even the low-fat soups are loaded with sodium, which are not good for your blood pressure either. A few crackers are ok if you really need them. Just think of soups as meals in liquid form. Generally people dont feel satisfied after just having soup and end up eating more anyway.

You must get low sodium, salt free or homemade. Soup is good but processed soups are sooooo high in sodium and sodium is the last thing you need if you are trying to loose weight. It is easy to make your own soup... there are some phenomenal soup recipe books and they're soooo delicious! Hey, I couldn't loose until I really upped my protein and calcium. Then it came right off....then I got pregnant and will begin it all again in November.

Canned foods usually have a high sodium (salt) content. Soups that are creamy like cream of chicken, mushroom, etc. are higher in fat/calories than soups that are clear. There are probably better foods to help you lose weight, but I wouldn't think it's a bad thing to do a couple of times a week or so.

Not if your are trying to loose weight. Look at the side of the soup can and you will notice the high percentage of salt in the soup. That salt will make your body retain water, and we know that water weight can amount to more than 5 pounds on the average person. Try eating salads with poultry or fish, this will balance your insulin levels and promote healthy weigh loss.

It would depends on if it was a broth soup or a creamed soup. Creamed soups have more fat and calories and as far as crackers a good multigrain is best but again everything in moderation.

Well its better than fast food. But canned goods are loaded with sodium and salt and they make you retain water. If I were going to eat soup and crackers for lunch I would get ones that are brothy, and not gravy like, like cream of any kind, chowders, you know what I mean? Fat free crackers. and remember lots and lots of water
