I_HATE_MOSQUITOS and wish they'd all die. But what would the overall impact be? Is there some sort of butterfly effect that will happen?

Are mosquitos vital to civilization? (For example, flies eat poop, ok, they're good for decomposing things...but what use is a mosquito?)

Oh, did I mention that I HATE mosquitos.

The best reason not to eradicate all mosquitoes is that the impact is impossible to calculate, and it could be calamitous!

Australia had a cane beetle problem they thought they could resolve by importing Cane Toads (which eat a LOT of cane beetles) from South America and establishing a population of them in Australia. Unfortunately, the cane toads LOVE Australia but don't much seem to like the beetles. So now Australia has a cane toad problem!

(See link for a picture, which does not do the toad justice. These things are HUGE!)

Mosquitos are part of the food chain, so any animal that eats mosquitos such as dragon flies and some species of birds such as the fly catcher would starve. It would be an endless dominoe effect. Sorry about that. We'll have to keep them.

Indians used to use alligator fat as a mosquito repellent. They would rub it all over their body.

I murder all mosquitos.
