I think the Dems take the house and Reps hold the Senate (barely)

I think I could make a very good argument in either direction. The turn out of voters will be the deciding factor. The senior citizen block of voters (I'm part of that group) is the only aspect in this election that I don't see as wild card. These voters are largely conservative and will normally vote republican. Not that they believe in the Republican platform but it is closer to them than the Democrat.

I have a theory that has been disputed by liberals I know but so far it is working. I think Roe v. Wade is a big factor in the present Republican stance. Abortion on demand was legislated from the Supreme Court Bench in 1973 and 21 years later this Republican “march” began. I think the number of liberals in this country is declining largely because the liberals are killing off their replacement voters. Like I said it is a theory but look at the results. The election when the first aborted baby could have voted saw the House go Republican and later the Senate and at this moment the White House.

I do see a real problem for the Republicans. They have the majority in both houses but aren't exercising any significant leadership. This failure could upset the seniors enough for them to vote for replacements. They may replace Republicans with other Republicans but then again they may not.

Now, for a straight prediction. I don't see any significant change. I doubt the Republicans will loose either house. In fact a gain of a seat or two are not out of the question.

I hope against hope that the Dem's take back one of the houses or both, we need to return checks and balances to the government. Bush has gotten away with to much to long and needs to be checked up in his last two years or we could have a huge calamity on our hands.
