Jessy - you are just SO WEIRD! I think it is very interesting - human nature is interesting - and perhaps could be research into how to help people now. There must be a reason for it. I read this somewhere on a psychology journal.

i think its because people were too bloody busy to contemplate suicde- im not being nasty- but sometimes if u have too much time to think -this can be your worst enemy- just the same as depression now- i suffer from it and i know when im not busy im far worse-guess thats the reason people who had nothing and terrible lives during the war didnt go running to the docs for pills

It is worth saying, in my view, that assuming a consistency in the age at which suicide is most prevelent, young men in their early to late 20's, then this group was away at war dying in another tragic way as were the other 'high risk groups, farmers, doctors and others.

People say it is because they were all working to support each other and did not feel isloated. If you have any faith in Maslow's hierarchy of needs you may consider that people were more concerned with achieving their basic needs such as safety, food and warmth, and were less concerned with their success at achieving the higher level needs such as self-actualisation.
