I agree, it's more of a southern trait. Although when I worked in retail, I would use the Yes Sir or Yes Ma'am regularly. So maybe it's a southern/retail thing. I know this guy, Forest. Forest Gump? He says it all the time.

i try to say it to every man woman and young adults also i say yes sir young man or yes mam young lady to small kids and always in a respective way [regardles of race]

Yes ma'am, absolutely. It is a sign of proper respect but can be overused. For example there is no need to end every sentence with ma'am / sir.

I say it to my husband and it drives him wild. He loves it! I think he'll buy me anything I ask for just because I say "yes, sir." I only do it sometimes and it completely changes his whole demeanor and puffs up his chest. I lose nothing and gain everything. lol

and where was you? p.c. showed up and we had a blast. and since mr. crowley didnt show i had to fight someone else(lol). man it was a great fight. it lasted all three rounds and about 4 minutes into the third i finally made him tap. he had one hard head. i didnt think i was gonna pull that one off. i did learn one thing though,im getting to old for that. i guess i have 2 more in me.
