Depends. Fast food joints, nah. But those "fine-dining" places, yes.

If it's a paper napking, it can stay on the table. A cloth napkin goes on your lap for the duration of the meal. At the end of dinner, when everyone is done with food and drinks, you can fold it and put it back on the table.

Always have it on my lap... SometI'mes, if im at lunch wearing a suit, I tuck it into a pocket... Leaving a napkin on the table is poor etiquette.

That depends on the restaurant. If we're talking fast food, no. If it's a normal, sit down restaurant, usually. Definately if there is a tablecloth. And if the napkins provided are cloth, always.

Napkin goes in your lap and it does not matter which side you put it on.

Yes, I do - and not just when I go OUT to eat. I do it at home. I also only use one hand to dine, placing my left hand in my lap during my meal. I do not eat with my fingers, either. It's called manners!

Depends on where I'm at...if I'm somewhere where I'm likely to drop something on myself, then I'll put it in my lap, but I usually just leave it on the table.
