You shouldn't be weight training as in trying to get big muscles. You should be exercising by playing a sport that increases your heart rate and gets you sweating. You can safely use weights during exercise, however, if you do, they should be light weights and use them to keep your body tone. At this age you shouldn't be pushing for huge muscles...that can come in another couple of years. Just build your endurance and stay flexible by stretching.

The part about stunting your growth is all a myth since there is no scientific evidence to support that claim. I will suggest a combination of weights and cardio such as running or sports. At your age you should look at all aspects of working out, nutrition, supervision, exercise technique, light weights. Steer away from all those products sold at stores, a great balanced diet should be enough. Check out the link bellow for more of a personal approach to your question.

yes at 14 lifting weights will be great for your body and - no it wont stunt your growth

BUT dont go for maximum lifts for at least another 1-2 years - instead focus on reps around 8-12 and build some quality muscle and tendon strength first

lifting weights is fine, it is the body buliding that could cause problems at age 14 for body building is more intense and for definition. Until your body is more developed weights is fine, just no body building. Dont over do it and keep up the good work!
