No, you shouldn't. About half of all babies walk after the first birthday. Average age for the first step is 9-17 months, and some normal babies walk later than that. My daughter didn't walk until 17 1/2 months old; once she was able to crawl across a room and stand up once she got where she was going (both of which she did early), she was more interested in learning to talk.

No you don't need to be worried at all. The normal age range for walking is 9-18 months, with the average age being 12-15 months. By 12 months your baby should be pulling to a stand and cruising along furniture. As long as he/she is doing that then do not worry.

All children are different. My oldest boy walked at about 13 months. My youngest was walking at 9 months. There is no definite pattern to when a child should begin to walk. Now, if you are nearing 18 - 24 months and the child still isn't walking I would bring up that there may be some developmental problems to the doctor, but you have many months before you need to be concerned with that. For now, just continue to encourage the child to stand next to couches or holding your legs and you'll be amazed how quickly they will catch on. Also, don't be in too much a hurry to get them walking because once they start, you'll have to run to keep up! :-) Be patient, all children are individuals and no doctor or any other expert can say for certain when a child will begin to walk.

Good luck!

Children all develope at different rates..Muscle tone moves from the head down from the trunk out...example: a child must be able to hold up his head before he can push up on his forearms etc...if you take a four month old and sit them up you can actually look at their back and see where their muscle tone is at. A child must have adequate strength and tone in their hip, knees and feet before they can walk. Some children walk well before a year and some not until 18 months..most of the time this has to do with hereditry factors and muscle coordination. Some children are naturally cautious and dont want to fall. This kids will walk when they feel comfortable doing so. These kids usually have better control and fall less once they do learn to walk.

Nothing wrong with that per se... one of my kids walked at 13 months, the other at 14 months. The first took a few steps one day, a few more the next, etc. and the second just got up and started walking. They're all different. The question is, has your baby done all the other milestones on schedule? i.e. rolling over, sitting up, creeping, crawling, cruising... And by "on schedule" I mean more or less within the time frame most babies do them, and more or less in order.

don't worry AT ALL!!! all babies are different. especially if you have a boy... it just seems like boys do things later that girls in the first 2 years or more. but either way i would not worry about it! my twins are 14 months and just seeming interested in walking. they took their first steps just last week but haven't attempted it again since. my nephew was 15 months and my good friends baby is 13 months and still crawling only. If you are really concerned bring it up with your pediatrician, but i don't see any cause for alarm. i actually am grateful they are not walking yet! YIKES!!! it is all over after that!

that's especially conventional at twelve months of age. maximum young ones initiate walking between the an prolonged time of 9-15 months. definitely everyone merely develops at diverse costs. One baby could be greater verbal than yet another, one ought to be incredibly comfortable with new faces and the different have stranger stress, and one ought to have sturdy gross motor skills at an identical time as yet another continues to be rolling to get around. you will in all probability be conscious her walking around furniture or something she will carry directly to at an identical time as she works on her stability. Stand approximately 3 feet faraway from her with your palms out to motivate her. she is going to take one step and then possibly tumble and circulate slowly or take some steps and then fall right into a sitting place. this is all element of working in the direction of for that ability of walking. Ask your pediatrician in the event that they have some handouts on what developmentally suitable social, actual, and emotional behaviors are as you attain those age landmarks. Babies usually walk anywhere from 13 - 15 months. I just saw my pediatrician today for my little girl's 12 month wellness and she told me that I shouldn't be concerned at all. It will come with time.

My son was over a year before he started to walk - we were also worried. Kids do things when THEY are ready. Remember, they are the boss LOL. My son is now 17 and he walks HA HA. Anyway, my father bought this toy for him that you push (a truck toy) and when you push it, it's stable, it picks up blocks and that toy got him walking immediately. But don't worry.
