Do I hate America? Of course not! I love America, probably more than Conservatives do. I love the ideals of the Declaration of Independence where it states that all men are endowed with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I cherish the Constitutional notions of checks and balances. I worship the freedoms laid out in the Bill of Rights.

What Conservatives see as "hate" would be more properly described as "disappointment". I am disappointed when our leaders and our nation stray from these sacred American ideals. If there is any hate, it is not for America or Americans, it is for the leadership that betrays America.

I say that if you love something or someone, then you are particularly concerned when that something or someone turns out to be broken or sick. When your child has a fever, you don't waste time bragging to everyone that he's an honor student, you take him to the doctor. And you don't accuse the doctor of hating your child when he points out that he has an infection. You thank the doctor, you get the prescription antibiotics, and you work hard to heal your child.

I don't hate America any more than you do. I just disagree with conservatives about how to make it better.

Labeling people is a really lame way to attack them. Less than .0001% of the U.S. population would do anything to harm our country, and yet the official spin is that they hate America. If you were familiar with the U.S.Constitution and the Bill of Rights or the Federalist Papers you would understand that it is the right and duty of each citizen to question the government - which exists to serve us and not the other way around.Liberals are responsible for much of the progress made by our country in the last century, from giving women the right to vote, the success of the civil rights movement and establishing social security and making sure that poor Americans get health care. Wasn't it Bush who said "I'm a uniter not a divider?" yet look at the what this administration has done to make sure the citizens of this country are more bitterly divided than at any time since the Vietnam War. Newsflash - I don't have to like the president to love my country. Go find another fantasy to believe in!

You mean the United States, America is not a country.

There is no such a thing as ‘American’ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

liberals hating America? I don't hate the country itself. I just hate the people that are running it because they have no clue as to what the hell they are doing. They are corrupt and think only about how to make more money at the expense of the working class. I hate crooked, greedy, dirty politicians. They are a bunch of @ssholes

here, here John S. I completely agree with your so eloquent response.

Because currently America is setting a very bad example and acting as a bully country. Americana's International politics are very self serving and sometimes at the expense of the rest of the world.
It using ethically questionable methods to force other countries to do it's bid.

I don't hate America, I hate what conservatives have done to it the last 6 years. If you want to stop progress just elect a conservative, he will be to busy filling his pockets to do anything construtive or good for the country.
