I'll bet you have a Toshiba. Mine truly sucks and it's only 4 months old. First the recording function stopped working, and then the touch pad went nuts, and now it's the cursor that's got me cursing. As if that's not bad enough, the power line constantly falls out. Best Buy --worst buy?-- tells me that they "get lots of these problems" (yet, when I bought it they told me it was a wonderful computer) and that they need to send it back to Toshiba for repair which will take 3-4 weeks! Meanwhile--I have no computer to do my work.
So, if your computer is a Toshiba, you might as well blow the **thing up!

By all means....take it out to the backyard, cover it with a pillow to muffle the sound, and shoot it. Then carefully load it into the trunk of your car and in the middle of the night drive to a bridge over a fast moving river and dump it. Oh, be sure to wipe off all finger prints to remove suspicion from yourself.

How old is your computer? What sort of trouble are you having? You might look into an estimate for repair first - you never could end up being cheaper. Also, you could have a virus. They are about $60 to fix.

well, maybe you need to tweak it a little, upgrade it... but computers are not that expensive these days and if it's an old computer (like >6 yrs old) maybe consider getting a new one. get the files off the old one and then throw it out the window!!! (make sure no one is down there first). seriously, recycle, recycle, recycle. :_) there am I not a good person?

If it is more than 5 years old, definitely
If it is more than 3 years old, yes if you have extra money to buy a new one
If it is less than 3 years old, it could be worth fixing
If it is less than 1 years old, it is worth fixing
