And because of that I wear powder foundation. But it's such a pain in the butt because after an hour later my t-zone would be so oily and shiny. What can i do to achieve a matte finish that lasts all day?

This may sound odd coming from a guy, but I also have an oily complexion, and my t-zone ends up feeling gross throughout the day.

Believe it or not, the key to minimizing oil is not to blot the oil up and it's not to apply make-up.

The key is to MOISTURIZE with a hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic product.

Your face produces oil to keep your skin moist throughout the day. The more you dry it out, the more your skin goes into "oil overtime"

Origins makes a good product for cleaning in the morning and moisturizing throughout the day. The moisturizer, funny enough, is called "Matte Scientist". I apply that in the morning and mid-day. Keeps me shine free.

Above all, don't touch your face with your hands (potential to deposit dirt on top of your oily face which could lead to blackheads) and make certain to STAY HYDRATED with fluids.

It will take a few days, but if you drink plenty of fluids, and moisturize regularly, you'll begin to see a change.

You need to be sure you're using a good skin care program first before you start worrying about makeup. Neutrogena has a couple of good programs; Pure Zone works well for some. You may need to experiment to find the best one for you. Drink a lot of water, maintain a good diet, exercise regularly and moisturize your skin. It may not seem to make sense, but if you don't your skin will get even oilier.

Once your skin program is good, try the different mineral makeups. They are actually good for your skin and will help control the oiliness too. Here are two links of products that have worked well for others who have the same type of skin. And now I see that Neutrogena and the other makeup companies are jumping on the bandwagon.

gurl...
oily skin and powder foundation going to cause clog pores thus more sebum produce.

Here's what u can do....
practice your 3 steps skincare regime.
Cleanse, tone, moisturise.
Oily skin needs moisturizer, get the gel type, fast absorbency, and contains tea tree oil or witch hazel.
Currently im using The Body Shop Mattifying Moisture Gel.

Then apply makeup base.
Recommendation: Chanel Sheer Illuminator
It highlights your face, upon application face will feel powdery smooth and matt.

Then apply a stick foundation, apply little by little in areas. Apply the tzone area last in tow coz thats the oiliest sebum production. Use your fingertips to blend the foundation as it reacts with the body temperature thus it sets nicely and longer lasting. To top it off....apply a sheer loose powder. Then proceed to your usual makeup routine....

When it gets oily avoid using oil blotters coz its gonna make your skin more oilier. Use soft facial tissue, dab at the oil areas, dont swipe....LOL. even if starts to get oily ...dab it then touch up with your loose powder........

:)

While you should use a good cleanser, toner & oil-free moisturizer a good foundation is key too. I have severely oily skin & use Clinique's Superfit Foundation. It covers well & is formulated for oily skin. I also use Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets. They soak up all the oil & leave your make-up in place!

A good book to read is Paula Begoun's "Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me". She rates almost all products out there & has a "Best Of..." section. I got it & skipped right to the reviews of products for oily skin (that's how I found the Clinique foundation).

Best of Luck!

Mark (Avon) makes an oil absorbing powder called
matte-nificent, or go to a beauty supply store (Sally's) and they have a rice powder that is very good at absorbing facial oil wear this over an oil-free foundation (use a water based foundation). Also Mary Kay Cosmetics makes a oil absorbing lotion you apply before putting on any makeup.

You can buy little inexpensive blotting sheets almost anywhere, and if you use them carefully and don't "wipe" they won't remove your makeup. Smashbox makes an excellent product called anti-shine that can be worn over or under your makeup base. I have a horribly oily t-zone, but by using bare minerals and the Smashbox anti-shine I can go from 6 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. completely shine-free. I never would have thought it possible, but it works!

I also have oily skin and believe it or not, I blot my forehead and nose with Kleenex. It absorbs the oil and doesn't leave a layer of powder on your face.

I find it especially helpful in the summer months.
