Money = Power
The working class does not even exist to these clowns in Washington anymore. We are all corporate numbers and we are but clogs in the machine. Oh yes, for all you conservatives who will follow the corporate line, it is so much fun watching you get screwed when your company downsizes or sends the corporation to China leaving you to sink or swim with us lowly working class types. See you in the unemployment line and when you ask "By the way brother can you spear a dime?" I'll give yoy a buck! Just remember when you lose that job you said "That will never happen to me!" Your new mantra will be "Do you want fries with that?" Corporations are sending Americans down the highway to hell and the devil's driving!

you are correct. I wish they could see it that way, but they are the ones that make the laws and many people in this country do not care enough to vote for people who give a crap about anyone else but themselves. I've heard all the excuses: it takes a while for bills to run their course, blah, blah, blah. But I don't care. Until the United States gets a better way of handling goverment, until we, as the citizens of the United States, stand up and say: "NO MORE!!!" we willbe slaves to the government that rules us. It's sad because we should have more of a say as to what the goverment does. These people are PUBLIC SERVANTS, they are here to serve us, we DO NOT EXIST to serve and be afraid of our government. Yet our stance is: oh well, what can you do? it's the government.

Sad
and
Pathetic

Follow along closely here.

Minimum wage is designed as an entry level wage, that is a wage paid to unskilled entry level workers.

The secret to not staying in entry level jobs is to get some job skills and training and then stay with a company long enough to start getting pay raises and promotions.

As an example. I started working in a local grocery store as a deli clerk at $7.50 an hour. I didn't even start at minimum wage because of experience and applicable job skills. Within a month I had impressed the deli manager so much that he promoted me to night supervisor and gave me a 50 cent an hour raise. Within six months I was promoted to assistant deli manager with another 50 cent an hour raise. Within a year of this I was promoted to deli manager at another store and was earning $12.50 an hour.

In less than two years I had gone from earning $7.50 and hour to earning $12.50 an hour based entirely on job performance. I have subsequently left that company to start my own business and I am doing much bettern than that.

The United States is still the land of opportunity. If you want to earn more than minimum wage, all you have to do is apply yourself.

Anybody who is earning only minimum wage for more than two or three years has only themself to blame. The opportunity to do better is out there. All you have to do is cease that opportunity.

While I don't agree with the secret middle-of-the-night pay raises, minimum wage was established to be a workforce "starting point". Entry level. It was not established to be a living wage. Politicians have seized on this as a crutch and battle-point. This allows them to hide from the more serious question of living wages.

You are extremely naive. If you want to make good money learn a good trade or get an education. Congressmen are actually underpaid for what they do.
