Anybody out there like early 90's alternative music? I recenlty heard that such bands as the Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Mud Honey, Meat Puppets, Pixies, Jane's Addiction, Breeders, Eric's Trip, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Belly, The Melvins are now considered bands that suck. Sure, it's ten years gone, and the music industry (now more than ever) is all about selling gloss rather than thought... But when will people (youth culture) actually form an underground movemnet that will toss the mainstream off course. I hope soon... But at least bands like The Roots and Chilli Peppers are deemed 'cool'. I hope they inform people to wake-the-f@ck-up and get out there and spread some good music. That is all friends. Let me know... And any musicians (as I am one, if ye can't tell yet), give me your input. Have fun, discuss... Cheers....

It will always be cool. Those bands are way kickass and they'll always be loved by at least a few people as long as they still think it's cool to like them. I know I love Jane's Addiction, Pixies, Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth more than a lot of bands out now. And I'm 13. It's just because at a young age my brother and sister allowed me to listen to that music with them.

I will always love these bands and the other underground bands still fighting to get into the mainstream. It's just a matter of how many people are smart enough to get their heads out of their asses and realize that there's an entire living world of music out there to explore and there's also the bands that influenced the current bands to listen to.

Honestly that music still is cool, most music that people my age like sucks, if I hear another rap song about some crack smoker beating his whores I'm going to puke. I personally think that The Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Jane's Addiction, the Smashing Pumpkins are all better than these stupid rappers and these new emo screamo bands. 80s music is awesome too. Well actually the Chili Peppers are from the 80s.

i'm an excellent alt ninety's fan, and that i have said that regrettably what the final public of human beings pay interest to now with the aid of music channels is that smooth, pop, rap, even with. i do not study about something else of you, yet i incredibly bypass over seeing Nirvana or Pearl Jam or The red warm Chili Peppers video clips being performed on television in any respect. i imagine the international is slightly too stuck up in what music has develop into to ever develop into sparkling minded sufficient to allow ninety's alt be slightly better recognized...

Are these the people that are saying Paris Hilton is good? The 60s, 70s, some of the 80's and the 90's were great. Today's music is awful except Wolfmother.

i always thought that 90's music was cool. i didn't know it was ever uncool. i don't keep up with trends, nor do i listen to pop. i think every generation thinks "their" music was great and there's no point in trying to convince them otherwise. no matter what, Beethoven and Mozart never go out of style.

"Good music" is bullsh*t. All there is in this world, is music. It is the way in which the individual perceives the music that makes it good or bad. In the case of America, majority rules, and that majority says "pop music". In my opinion, the alternative movement of the nineties was terrible.

Hopefully never. I grew up with the grunge crap and its mind numblingly terrible. I'll give the smashing pumpkins respect, but none of those other bands.
