Most twin pregnancies are considered to be in the high risk category. which means you should avoid the following

* sex unless your DR sais it is ok
* aerobic activity including fast walking (swim is best )
* baths (shower only and not too hot )
* Do not change cat litter box or clean bird cage
* work after the 5th month
* Do not stay on your feet for long periods of time
* Swim in the ocean currents and waves are to strenuous

This is strictly an opinion...take it for what you like. I think you should resume normal activity as long as your body lets you...as far as exercise. As far as food/drink/meds/drugs...eat healthily, and don't deprive yourself.

Make sure babies and mommy have plenty of nutrition.

Don't drink alcohol.

Don't smoke.

Don't do drugs of any kind without doctor approval (perscription.)

I personally even cut out caffiene - my lifeline Diet Coke UGH!!! Not sure how I did that one, but I guess it wasn't even an option.

If you do smoke, or drink - don't quit cold turkey, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits to the babies.

Don't sit at home and do nothing for 9 months.

Don't let anybody tell you you aren't beautiful!

Don't sweat the small stuff like stretch marks (with two, they are more likely, and are part of life for some....so don't worry about it!)

Don't wait till last minute to get rooms, supplies, and home ready. (Twins often come early)

Don't let anyone deny you a foot massage. A must during any pregnancy, double with twins!

Don't sit in a hot tub....it's a risk for the baby (although I recommend soaking your feet regularly!)

Don't let anyone tell you that a chiropractor is out of the question while pregnant...mine was my lifeline! If you find the right one, they can be very helpful!

Don't buy two of everything - some things can be shared! (kind of obvious)

Don't avoid noise - my babies both slept well through any kind of noise because I didn't deprive them of it! (my father in law owns a tire store/shop)

Don't let anyone tell you about YOUR body - it's yours, and it's probably different than theirs.

DO NOT drink castor oil to go into labor!!! not only does it put you into a LONG miserable labor, but it makes you sick in the process!

Don't count on ALL advice from the internet. You, your family and friends, and your doctor know you best, and can help you more than anyone (I don't know your situation, but I recommend a Spouse/significant other or your mom if they are available for help and advice)

Don't ignore all advice given because of that last item, there are still plenty of good ideas out there!!!

I guess these are lots of do's and dont's. Take them for what you wish, but one last bit of advice

Don't you dare have those babies and not keep us updated - you can email me through my profile or bgregory14@yahoo.com .

Best wishes for a healthy mommy and babies! :)

Anything that your OB told you to avoid and physically demanding activities. If you are doing something that causes pain or strange sensations, quit and relax. If something doesn't feel right, call the doctor immediately. It's hard enough for a woman to carry one child-it's considerably increased with two or more.

Hope you have a great outcome.

Pretty much the same as with a singleton. Word of advice, stock up on prepared meals now. And, get ALL the sleep you can. These twins will wear you out when they first come home. You will be up pretty much all night feeding and burping them. Congrats!

If you weed through the jokes there are some pretty good answers. the only thing I'd like to add is - avoid salt. You are more likely to get hyper tension with twins. other than that don't lift over 20lbs, bend from the knees, take your prenatal, esp. iron, don't stress, and don't strain. Good luck.

Don't become totally inactive. Go to your bookstore to find something on gentle exercises that pregnant women can do. Some LIGHT walking and MILD stretching can help with that pending double delivery (Don't do any stretches that put stress on your stomach!). Ask your Doctor for further details and advice.

sorry darlin! sounds like you want a reason to get out of hosuework etc, except being pregnant, whether with twins or one baby, isn't a an excuse to have people wait on you:)
i wish it was!!!

unless your dr puts you on specific restrictions you can do pretty much whatever you want...within reason. i mean, i doubt you want to go skydiving or riding roller coasters, but you can take walks, do laundry, go shopping, etc...

just follow what your dr tells you.
you may get put on bed rest towards the end if you're carrying a lot of weight on your uterus to prevent premature labor.
just listen to your dr and you'll be fine!

take care.

You can do just about anything that you normally do when not pregnant...just because you are having twins does not mean you can just sit on your butt...unless the doctor has put you on bedrest then everything you have done before you can continue you doing.
