China doesn't want to be a threat to the US militarily, but want to be formidable enough to defend itself in the event of attack. The Chinese do not currently have the capability to launch long range nuclear weapons, as I understand.. but in a ground war on thier homeland- the Chinese would be very difficult to beat, simply because their military is so large.
As far as economics, China is in the progress of rapid expansive growth and has been for some time now, but it has the awesome task of having to care for 1.3 billion people.. many of which are poor and struggling to make it.. China is and will continue to be an economic power- but as I understand from financal wizards (which I do not claim to be) their future could be on a delicate balance, as they have to maintain a delicate balance between social responsibilities, maintaining military capabilities and growing economics.

Economically, yes, because the Chinese government has been changing, and also, the labor is cheaper in China. But the Chinese military isn't. The American military relies on more modern and advanced weaponry, while China depends on larger numbers, and equipping their soldiers with cheap and effective weapons. If China fought with the U.S., each side would have lots of allies, but China and America have had a really good political relationship in the 21st century.

No not at all. Look at how much Americans spend on Chinese goods and look and see how much China spends on American goods. DOESNT COMPARE. Our government can just cut off imports to China. and China would do the same in return. The main difference is Americans would now have to buy American. Not cheap Chinese product. As for the military. dont even joke. America is the super power. We have better wepons and we have something China doesnt. A military force that are filled with soldiers that joined because they wanted to, not forced like other countries. Yet another reason America is the greatest country on earth!

Only if we allow it to be. Presently, Red China is not much of a military threat, but they are certainly becoming an economic threat. But, from what I read, the USA has the largest economy in the world. I think California has the sixth largest.

Not economically since their economy is completely based on handouts from the United States. Militarily they are a big threat, with a sizeable nuclear arsenal although it is unclear if they can actually hit us reliably or not. A working anti-missile system of the type we were supposed to have built under Clinton (Clinton promised us this and then reduced the funding for it to zero) would make this a non-issue.
The problem is the people who run China are nuts. They aren't as nuts as they used to be (Mao told the soviets that billions of chinese casualties were acceptable.....chinese women would just make more babies) but they are still nuking futs. Although we could easily wipe them off the map, they could hurt us pretty bad (in other words, they could kill off a significant amount of our civilian population). The problem is they might be cool with that.

Maybe in the short term.
China has no wish to invade or control any other country besides it's own (and Taiwan, but that's another story).
Their economic growth is not being tempered by wisdom and so the resources will fail within ten years. The physical price they will pay for polluting their lands will be high, though they don't seem to care.
They WILL be one of the leaders in alternate energy sources, so if you want to invest in Solar, invest in China!

Absolutely. I don't want to get into a big discussion on it, but I absolutely do. They have most of the market in the US already, and prohibit US imports on a very large scale. I don't know how that came to be, but it's not fair trade. And as far as their military, hell yes, they are a huge threat. I hope to God they never get full control of the Panama Canal .

Is that asking if China has the means to invade united states of america? No. Neither China nor united states of america very own the means to invade the different. China merely has too many adult males to call upon to be invaded, yet additionally lacks the strategic projection means to mount operations against united states of america. in terms of interior of reach conflicts, China could have the sting over united states of america in any conflict in mainland Asia, although, the aforementioned loss of strategic projection could placed them in the back of united states of america in international conflicts. although, China does have nuclear weapons, and the means to furnish them (besides the actuality that whether or no longer they are able to be delivered to the continental united states of america is up for debate). From that perspective, specific, they are. keep in mind the dating between united states of america and China, the two greatest paying for and advertising companions interior the international. Any protection stress action between them could spell catastrophe for the international economic gadget. At this element, besides the actuality that they disagree on many international matters, China and united states of america merely be counted on one yet another too plenty for it to come again to conflict.

Economically yes.....military-speaking, no. Sure, they've got more people than us but their military technology is laughable....probably not for long, though.
