A. Wanting to marry the person of your choice, same-sex or opposite-sex, in order to express your love and be able to care for each other?

B. Working to keep other adult American citizens from marrying the adult of their choice, because that sort of marriage is against *your* religious beliefs and *you* find it repulsive and unnatural?

Just checking....

I think that the answer to that can be found by asking another question. "What is your purpose in life?" The answer should be to find happiness. If you have found that, then the rest of the world should just butt out and leave you alone. What right does any person or group of people have to impress their beliefs upon others? And that is even more true for political leaders.

This is a loaded question and as such the answers you get will be worthless. If you wanted to make the question more valid change A to "Wanting society to change one of its basic fabrics so that you can marry any person you wish" and B to "Working to prevent other Americans from changing the basic fabric of society which would enable them to marry a person they so choose".

My guess is that you do not want a valid question asked because you have decided on an answer to this all ready.

Marriage is a religious union between man, woman, and God. It is a union that should not be taken lightly. Many adults believe they know what they want, and when they get it, they decide that it's not what they want.

However, the government should allow people to freely select who can be their Power-of-Attorney (Health & Finance), insurance beneficiaries, and who can inherit the estate after a death.

C. Conserving the term marriage for the churches (governments butt out and just make contracts), and protecting programs that encourage hetrosexual couples to have happy, well adjusted children for posterity.
