Restraining order.

It depends on what he/she is doing. I was afraid of my ex finding me (he was abusive) and I moved back home and surrounded myself w/ friends and family. I was especially nervous when I had a child for fear he would hurt her just to get back at me. He tried contacting me a few times, but I made it very clear that I did not wish to be contacted at all by him and I also put everything in writing so I could have a copy of the conversation in case I needed to get a restraining order.

Other than taking out a hit on him, there is not much you can do to guarantee that you will never encounter him (her?) ever again. If you have kids, suck it up - you will be entwined forever. The best you can hope for is to be mature about it and handle the rare occurrences in a civil manner.

Impossible.... He is a part of your past... He is a part of your history... therefore, he will always be there.... It is up yo you how to live with it.... To hate him, to love him, to be indifferent for him.... Only you can choose the emotions you have towards him... But to have him out of your life for good - you can't.... If it causes pain, just try to change the perception of your ex.... but do not hate him..... it will hurt you even more...

Some have used firearms to remove their ex from their lives but I do not advocate that method as it may culminate in a prison sentence for you.

Do not respond to your ex at all. Whether it be phone calls, e-mails, etc. They'll get the picture.

Just ignore him/her. Don't return phone calls, don't acknowledge any communication from him/her. If he/she comes to the door, don't answer. Eventually, most people get the point.
Good luck!

Move. Change jobs. Get a new phone #. Tell him that you would rather be repetedly sprayed by a skunk than be around him.
