I have mixed feelings on this (if it's true). On one hand it would be awesome to continue the story. But in the orginal a lot of the main characters died so who would be in the sequel? Sounds like a rip-off, just trying to cash-in on the first one.

If they did make a sequel, I'm sure that its just going to be a teeny-bopper spinoff since most of the characters are dead or the actors/actresses are too old to play them...sounds like a bunch of garbage aimed at capitalizing on an movie plot that made money back in the 80's...its kinda sad that they ve run out of ideas for making decent movies

Well, the girl who played Heather Chandler died of a brain tumour about 6 yrs after the first movie came out. That's all I know.

Aren't there any original ideas left in Hollywood? Must we keep watching remakes, sequels and big budget movies that are ruined with too much CGI to hide the fact that it lacks in plot?

No word about it in IMDB which is usually pretty reliable. I agree, hard to see how they could make it into much without some major cast and writing commitments.

There is no mention of it on us.imdb.com - they would have something listed as the update the status even when something is in development. Plus, due to the school violence as of late I doubt the movie would be greenlit.

if they did, it would be completely redone with new actors and a different story line. that movie is a classic cult flick. if they made a second, i think it would suck for those who lived when the original was around
