Haven't decided yet whether to do this, but just wondering, as we are going to LV in September from the UK, and thought it would be the best thing to do. We have large families, so it would also be cheaper.

Where do we get a marriage licence from?

first of all, congratulations! We're doing exactly the same thing from the UK in September - and it really saves a lot of hassle.

You turn up at the wedding licence bureau with your passports and $55 in cash and pick up your marriage licence there and then. You're then free to get married in any of the 71 chapels around the city.

However, there's a lot of variety in the chapels, and to make sure you don't feel short-changed, I would do your research first. The website below lists every chapel and ceremony option in Vegas itself, as well as listing desitnation wedding options (Grand Canyon, Lake Las Vegas etc). You can search by cost, theme/non-theme, and check you're getting everything you want from the package. It also lists all the places in Vegas offering set-price menus for large parties in case oyu want to organise a reception too.

There's also a great book called Neon Nuptials (available from Amazon) which gives a no-holds-barred view of all the chapels in terms of friendliness, romance and cleanliness - it's quite an eye-opener.

Good luck - enjoy!

We planned our wedding in a few days there in 2002. We have to go to the city place to apply for a marraige license. After that we look for a place and we booked at Eiffel Tower restuarant and they also arranged for us a minister. We have a sit down dinner for 18 people and we have a seperate room overlooking Ballagio fountain and it was romantic. It was the first wedding for the restaurant.
There are many small and also many nice chapels in the theme hotels but we do not have many people to do it there.
You can also do a drive in wedding on a car or a limo.
Las Vegas is the best place for a wedding since there are so many choices and you can plan it in a few days.
And the guests enjoy the place itself and the airfares are cheap for everyone to attend.
The license cost us about 50US and the minister cost a bit and dinner ofcourse.

Everything you could ever possible want to know about getting married in Las Vegas will be in the book "Neon Nuptials"- Ken Van Vechten...The book isn't corney, my buddy just has a sense of humor....IF, you do decide to get married out there, buy the book it will save you many times what you pay for it! both in time and money...

don't go to the Luxor - the chapel is next to the McDonalds! (Unless of course you like that idea.)

There are TONS of wedding chapels.
