Yes they can- but you can help by making sure the space is adequate. The rule of thumb is that we want AT LEAST 10 gallons of swimming space per inch of turtle.

Red-ears ARE NOT the easiest pet in the world to start with, so please do your research first. The site listed is great!

Heads up first. Red ear sliders need lots of room to grow. A small tank may be okay when they're younger, but you'll most likely need to upgrade when they're older (especially if you want 2). I think the rule of thumb is 10 gallons per inch (length of turtle). As for aggression, I would think it would be okay. If you get one of each you'll have to worry about late-night booty calls and future hatchlings. :P

not if you get babys i got one thats a box turtle 13 years old and 7" inches and one thats 14 weeks out of egg and only 1 1-2 inches thats the slider they are good rased as babys
