The US wants to give Israel time to destroy as much of southern Lebanon as possible, even if this means a large number of civilian deaths. The reason for this odd position is that the US is largely controlled by the jewish lobby, so whatever Israel wants, Israel gets it with blessings from the US. There has not even been any real outrage in the US about the deaths of all those civilians, mostly children, in that Israeli attack on that apartment building Qana. The reason for this silence is because the US tacitly supports Israeli aggression and genocide and will not say or do anything to discourage it. Sadly, it shows you the degree to which US politicians are controlled by jews.
The US says it does not want a ceasefire until it can be a "sustainable ceasefire", which means the total dstruction of most of Lebanon. In the meantime, the US is expediting new Israeli rush orders for more bombs and missiles.

Condoleeza is flying back and forth to stall a bit. In about a week, the US will officially suggest a peace-keeping force.. but for the time being, the US wants Hezbollah to be given as much of a beatdown as possible.

The Bush administration LIKES the fact that the world's attention is focused on something other than the US illegal occupation (authorized by Presidential directive - not authorized by congress) of Iraq and the resulting un-civil war.
