It's probably not too late. I suggest contacting your school's financial aid office. They can give you advice that will keep you from making expensive mistakes. If you live in the U.S., you probably should have filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which is necessary to get low-interest government loans, scholarships from your school, and most kinds of grants, like Pell grants. Again, your school's financial aid office will be the best source of accurate information and suggestions for how to proceed.

If you need the money by August 8 (one week from today) your best bet is to go to a bank or credit union in your town and take one out. You could also call your school's financial aid department; sometimes they have short term loans while you wait for federal aid to come through. They're the best ones to talk to.

Hey there, they usually have a grace period. Go to your financial aid department at the school first thing tomorrow and let them know what is going on. You can apply by web, and get the amount right then, though you won't get the check for a few weeks. Make sure you write down any kind of confirmation # that they give you so you have this as proof if the school asks for it.

it's never too late. Just fill in the paperwork for a loan and pay for school on your credit card. Just make minimum payments till your money comes in. When you get your money, make sure you pay off your credit card!
What I think may happen is you pay up front and then your loan kicks in and pays the same amount and the college refunds you your original payment.

it may be too late for federal - but if they have money left and you qualify you may be able to get it. fafsa.org is where you can go. Other than that you will have to get a personal loan for school. Citibank (studentloan.com) has applications and I think Bank of America has programs

It isn't too late to get a student loan, but I doubt you will get it by August 8th. Go pawn your car, LOL! If you have one.
