Anyone can have dyslexia, when you go to college or a few days before classes start, ask your college advisor where you can go to receive help for you learning disability. Often in colleges this is at the reading center, and they will help you set up a plan for your college career. Or your transitional IEP could have been written to accommodate your entry to college and you might already be set up for this. If you are still in high school ask your advisor or case manager about this. And you can be anything you want to be, plenty of people in the world are dyslexic and they have achieved wonderful things. A friend of mine is receiving his PhD in biochemistry next weekend and he is dyslexic. So don't sweat it, just work hard and love what you do and you'll be fine.

Only a doctor can diagnose dyslexia. As a school psychologist, the child study team can do evaluations and refer you out to verify if you have "true" dyslexia. There are other learning disabilities that can resemble dyslexia. If you are already identified as having dyslexia, you should have a 504 plan or an IEP written. This way, when you go to college this plan can follow you. What this plan does is provide you with modifications in the classroom, so that you can be successful (such as reducing written assignments). As for the future....the world of possibilities is endless!

Studies show that boys are more likely than girls to have a learning disability. Yes, colleges have SPED programs. They have tutors, mentors, and counselors, and every professor should tell you in their syllabus what to do if you have a disability in terms of their class. Being dyslexic shouldn't hinder you from any career. It may take you a little longer to get there but you can do anything! Good luck!

Dyslexia isn't a matter of weather you are a boy or girl. Yes, most colleges and universities do have programs to assist you with this. The career possibilities I couldn't tell you because I don't have dyslexia, once again, a college/university counselor could help you.

Dyslexia does not discriminate, so girls can have it too. Yes, colleges will have people that can help you. Some times they will permit you to take a tape recorder to class to help you. What career possibilities? Anything you want to do, my dear. Cher is dyslexic, and look at her! There are many, many other famous people who are dyslexic and it has not stopped them from achieving their goals, and don't you let it either. Good luck.
