This is a common trick of spammers and scammers. A strange date will tell you the email is garbage 99.99% of the time. Delete.
Using commonly available software you can create any email header you want - to, from, subject, date - and those are what get displayed.
The idea of the wierd date is to make sure their stuff is always on the top (or bottom) of your email list. As far as I am concerned, it just makes it easier to delete because it is so obvious.

Only scientist were using the Internet back in 1981. They could not have had your e-mail address. Don't open, delete it...

Oooo, maybe it's a ghost. Actually some people can date their e-mail like that. I read about it in a magazine once. But anywayz I wouldn't open it, could be a virus.
