Why do you want them to come faster? They come as your body and your baby are ready. Do not rush it... really.

Castor oil is an old midwife's trick for bringing on labor. Not much, just a few teaspoons but it's really foul and usually you must mix it in juice.
It works by irritating the digestive tract/bowels which in turn irritates the uterus, and by delivering prostaglandins to the woman's body, presumably through the digestive tract. If you feel bowel stimulation will help (and it sometimes does) better to do a warm water enema instead, this is much safer and while not pleasant at least you're avoiding the bad taste of castor oil and the bad cramping and diarrhea it can bring.
There are better ways to help induce labor. First, please make sure that you are full term 40 weeks. Full term is not 38 weeks, it's 40 weeks, longer baby stays in the better (until about 41 weeks when placenta starts to get "old"). You can check out the recommendations on gentlebirth.org and if you have a midwife or openminded doctor, please discuss your thoughts with him/her first.

It's STUPID...That's an old wives tale. Drinking castor oil will not help your contractions it has nothing to do with the uterus. Castor oil works on the bowels...now if you wanted to Poop your baby out that would be another story.

Not safe at all and very irresponsible. If your doctor/midwife hasn't told you to go guzzle castor oil what makes you think it is okay to do?
Common sense people. Being dehydrated from being on the toilet for two hours emptying your bowels and throwing up all your liquids to bring on labour is obviously not healthy.
Call your doctor and make an appt to see if s/he will induce you in a healthy fashion (pitocin, etc), or ask if it is okay to do things at home to possibly bring on pre-labor contractions.
Use your head and read up on labor.

Its safe, but have you tasted it. Truth is it doesn't work all that well. Walking helps to bring on contractions, and so can sex. Long as your water hasn't broke. Sperm help soften the cervix. The time will come. Good luck and enjoy your new baby.

It is not safe at all...just do a search and you find information on it.
All it does is give you bad cramps (not contractions) and you will spend time sitting on the toilet. It is not good for you or the baby.
Just let nature go on its own.
