With most rats, they either like the wheel or they don't. It does have to be a big one though. Out of all the rats I've had, none have cared for the ball. Playpen would be escaped from in minutes. I'm not sure what kind of cage you have, but if you have a wire cage, you can hang a hammock in there. They absolutely love it. (Don't spend money on the expensive store hammocks, which the ratties can chew right through). An piece of fabric, an old wash rag or dish rag, cut up an old shirt, pants, etc. will work fine. Use four plastic shower curtain rings, and poke a hole in each of the four corners of the "hammock" and hang it with the rings on the wires. If it gets chewed up or too dirty, just toss it. My rats go absolutely bonkers for feathers. It makes them insane! Some cat toys work well - plastic balls with the jingly thing inside. They will undoubtedly chew through it eventualy, but you can usually get a bag of 10 balls for under $2. My rats like to go in tunnels, so any large tube is fun. Even a can (like a coffe can or spaghetti sauce can) with both ends taken off is good - but you have to make sure it doesn't have sharp edges. They are very curious creatures, so variety is the key. If you give them the same toys all the time, they will lose interest. You can toss almost anything in their cage, as long as it is not sharp or toxic, and they will have fun with that new object. My son yesterday decided to put a hot wheels car in the cage (our cage has three levels and ramps). Next thing I know one rat has the car in his teeth and is running up to the top ramp. The other rat ran up and stole it, and ran back down with car in mouth. Who'd figure? They had a good time with it for about 1/2 hour.

If you have a wheel, make sure it's big enough that they have enough room - the tails can make it hard for rats to use wheels. Some rats just don't like wheels.
Mine liked the big (the *big*) plastic runaround balls - again, make sure they're big enough for the rat.
Mine also liked ladders and chew toys to climb on and gnaw on. Look in the bird section of your pet store for wood toys or ropes (which need to be washed and kept clean) that might be rat-sized.

placed her on the wheel in specific circumstances and notice if she would be able to ultimately take to it. some wont. i could advise different toys like ladders too. I had a ferret cage for my rats and that they enjoyed mountain climbing the bars! some do exactly no longer locate an workout wheel as adequate entertainment and could like something else. pass to a puppy shop, get her a sort of toys and notice which of them she takes to.

Thats easy. All you got to do is to put the rat on the wheel and spin it.
