This question causes memories to become as vivid as the clearness of the day. Speaking honestly, being a writer gives me the greatest enjoyment. But reading novels of about 85000 words is also enjoyable, but not a hobby. I like reading love stories. But I write scifi and fantasies. Nobody can accuse me of plagiarism .

I do! I thoroughly enjoy reading! I can remember when I was in grade school and they had this prgram called speed reading. It began in the beginning of the school year til the end of it. The result is that you became a fast reader with comprehension. You never lose it in fact. I can't read small books. The books I read have to be tomes or thick volumes.! I don't get any satisfaction other wise. I read different types of books:

Novels (fiction;true stories)
Biographies
Computer books
Self-Help
Health Books (Alternative Medicine;Herball Remedies)
Tax books (do my own taxes)
Hair Styling Books
Magazines

Sometimes when I am reading something of intense interest, I read it til I can't see straight or until I finish it, usually in one day, having stayed up til the wee hours many times.

It's way beyond a hobby, it's a way of life. I read anything and everything. Cereal boxes, the newspaper, books, magazines, sometimes even tabloids. I carry a book with me wherever I go so I can read if I have to wait in line, or in a traffic jam. I most often prefer to read (good) historical fiction, not the stupid bodice-ripper stuff, but I will read virtually anything if in a situation without good reading material.

Reading is one of my great loves. I read sci/fantasy usually but during baseball season, I read trashy romances - My grandmother and I were Braves fans togther for as long as I can remember. When I was little I remember Hank Aaron's home runs. When I got into my teens, I would buy those romances for her because she said I could pick out the best. I would read them after her. She died several years ago. So when baseball season rolls around, I think of her and watch the Braves and run out to buy a stack of trashy romance novels!!

I also read anything I can get my hands on. It opens up so many new ideas and improves my scores at Triva Quizes!
For relaxation my choice is magazines like New Scientist, although I don't pretend to understand everything that is written about, and thrillers and crime related novels.
My idea of hell would be life without the written word.
