My bf and I have been together for awhile. We got into a HUGE fight on Saturday (same day as his mother's bday party) and I put my nasty feelings toward him aside and went to the party anyway. Since we fight fairly often I told him Monday that we should take a few steps back and just work on being friends to each other...on our communication skills. Neither of us have any intention of dating other people, just want to work on our relationship. Well, last night he told me that after our fight on saturday and the fact that i still showed up to his mom's bday party with a smile on my face that he was going to ask me to marry him in the next two weeks or so. We have already come a long way since Monday...its only been two days and hes opened up to me alot. I just don't know what to think. Is he just saying that or is it possible hes telling the truth? Thoughts please?

we are very commited to one another, we love each other, support each other, but bicker. hes a great father, absolutely caring person. bickering is ore due to the whole "macho guy" cant talk about his feelings. i know i want to be with him. we dont take marriage lightly, like some seem to these days. vow before god is not to be taken lightly. anway, i am in no rush to get married and neither is he. we want to take our time. just wondering other's thoughts.

I hear you say you are not rushing, but that seems to be the key issue implied in your question - Am I rushing into marriage too quick?

Err on the side of not getting married too soon.

Don't expect you'll change him after getting married.

Work on the issues you want to improve now, because he is more likely to improve and change before getting married. Make certain positive changes a prerequisite to he proving his worthiness for you.

Well, he could just be saying it, or it could be true. But you need to stop and think about it. If you felt two days ago that you needed to step back and work on things, do you really feel that you should commit to spend the rest of your life with him before you have everything worked out?
